An embroidered, mantle Star to a Commander of the Military Division, 165 mm, the arms, with sequined embroidery, polychrome embroidered centre with details in gold wires and thick, deep red velvet, the reverse backed with thin paper (minor loss and tears), the centre with circular maker`s label of "Lewis Gold Laceman, Embroiderer, Sword Cutler &c. to their Highnesses the Dukes of Kent & Sussex & the Prince of Hesse Homberg, 37. An early embroidered mantle Star to a Knight of the Order, 230x240 mm, the rays of silver wire and sequines, the centre with thin, red woolen cross within thick silver embroidery, the outer circlet made as a tied garter with the Order`s motto "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" on soft, blue velvet ground, the reverse with original paper backing. A very fine and very early star, from the late XVIII early XIX Century, extremely fine condition and of high rarity! I- RR!
