Peytrequin (Gaston-Robert, 1915 - 1990)

Pastel on strong paper about a young athlete (probably Italian) wearing medals from Swiss competitions on his chest. Signed and dated 1936. Dimensions 34.5x26.5 cm at sight, 46x38 in a modern frame. Very fresh, good condition! Gaston-Robert Peytrequin, Swiss painter, was very influenced by the 1930s and the rise of totalitarianism. Although colorful, its aesthetics and themes often give pride of place to the realistic trend of the time.
