A complete set of Collar Grand Cordon of the Order in gilt Silver: 11, blue enameled ornated links, bearing polished, golden “R” and 12 gilt links, bearing the polished letter “Z”, all linked together and a further, larger, blue enameled “R” link, to which the badge is appended, as an 8-pointed star (its finials, set with a large pearl), flanked by stylized flames; green enameled centre medallion bearing the gilt bust of Zanzibar’s President, within blue enameled outer circlet, bearing the motto “NISH ANI YA RAIS” in golden lettering; polished, concave reverse; original, full length sash riband with bow, to wear the Order’s badge alone, outside the occasions where the collar is to be worn; Breast Star in gilt Silver, with polished, tapering rays, flanked by bundles of flaming beams; green enameled centre medallion bearing the gilt bust of Zanzibar’s President, within blue enameled outer circlet; the whole in the dark green morocco original case of issue, with deep-blue velvet, fitted inner compartment; the outer lid and the inner cushion, with embossed, Zanzibar’s coat-of- arms.
An outstandingly rare collar, awarded as the highest order of modern Zanzibar, to heads of state only; excellent condition.
