The Bailey Banks and Biddle eagle. Finely chased Gold in the form of an American eagle facing left with wings spread and down swept. Its head is in a circular laurel wreath highlighted with green leaves. The eye is red enamel. The eagle’s breast has an oval medallion with the motto in a white enamel border which reads Societas Cincinatorum Instituta AD 1783 in the border. The senators present Cincinnatus with a sword with his wife and cottage behind him against a lapis enamel sky. On the verso Cincinnatus is shown with his plow and an angel above and a village. Gold suspension ring attaches to a blue and white silk ribbon with pin. Dim.: 50,0 x 25,0 mm. Extremely rare and superb! I RR! Provenance: A Newport, Rhode Island collection.
