A Judge’s Badge of the Holy Inquisition

A golden quatrefoil with rised, polished border, flanked by stylized flowers, the obverse bearing white/black enameled cross of the Dominican Fathers on pebbled ground; the reverse with green enameled Christ’s Cross sided by green enameled laurel branch and a sword with blue enameled blade and golden-yellow enameled hilt; strong, upper loop, with original, round suspension ring.
An extremely rare badge, that can be dated to the early 18th Century, although made with earlier taste and style; excellent condition.
