A First Class Badge with Swords; red enameled, Gold cross of Maltese type with ball-finials, flanked by Russian Imperial eagles also embossed in gold and beneath them, two crossed swords, also in gold; white enameled centre medallion with red enameled, golden monogram “SS” within green enameled laurel wreath, being the medallion’s outer circlet; the reverse, also with red enameled arms; white enameled centre medallion, with miniature- painted, red monogram “SS” within moulded border in gold; upper loop as an ornamented bow with round eyelet on top (struck with Russian marks) and original, gold wire suspension ring; mounted to an ornamentally-sewn original riband in the width of a neck ribbon.
A beautiful, extremely rare piece of the finest Russian quality from the 2nd half of the 19th Century, excellent condition.
