A complete, jewelled group to a Dame of this semi-autonomous branch of the Malta Order, active in the USA, awarded and belonged to the famous actress Shirley Temple: Cross of the Order in gilt Silver and white enamel on both sides; upper crown of Royal type, set with brilliants, rubies and emeralds to the obverse face, grooved ribbon ring with beaded borders and original, red silk neck ribbon; in the original, deep-sea-blue morocco case of issue with fitted inner compartment, the lid with gold embossed “Knights of Malta” and “Shirley Temple Black” in Gothic script, together with an enameled miniature in gold, with ribbon, two enameled lapel miniatures with long pin and a further miniature in silver, set with tiny diamonds, also fitted with long pin; TOGETHER, the robe as a red mantle with white order’s cross, white silk collar and front borders; guarantee certificate of provenance and authenticity of the hereby offered pieces, being from the property of the actress.
A beautiful, precious set, belonged to a famous American actress and testimony of the “struggle” between the Malta Order and its various autonomous and even self-styled branches; excellent condition.
