A Model 1908 Tunic to an Artillery Officer, attached as a Major, to the Plovdiv, 9th Infantry Regiment “Princess Klementine”
Blue black wool cloth with red piping to the button line, back pocket flaps, cuffs and collar; the latter lined of black velvet bearing the gold bullion embroidered collar patches proper to a staff officer; gilt buttons; Epaulettes made of gold brocade bearing the crowned monogram “K” (for Princess Klementine, mother of Princess Clementine of Orléans, mother of Tsar Ferdinand I, to which the Regiment was entitled), on pale blue cloth backing, indicating the regiment’s colour and a silver “pip” type star, indicating the rank of a Major; the crescent and tassels made in the finest gold bullion embroidery; the inside, lined with fine red and black silk; complete with the officer’s belt made of bullion brocade woven with Bulgaria’s colours; the buckle, embossed with the crowned, bulgarian lion.
An extremely rare uniform of one of the most iconic, bulgarian regiments, strictly bound to the Tsar’s family, excellent condition; being the uniform homogenelus, we can suppose that the uniform belonged to a member of the Bulgarian nobility, who had the honour of having been attached to the Plovdiv Regiment, or was the commander of the Artillery group, part of the regiment itself.
