Grand Cross breast star in the so-called “Prince-Size”, 77 mm., Silver, with chiseled arms, flanked by bundles of polished beams; centre medallion with separately- mounted Imperial eagle facing left, on polished ground; finely pebbled outer circlet nearing the motto “honnEur ET pATriE” in raised, polished lettering; concave, polished reverse, the counter medallion, bearing the silver escutcheon of Ouizille Lemoine, Paris.
A beautifully-made star that can be dated around the years of the Crimean Campaign 1855-56 in the typical, most accurate manufacture of the mentioned Jewelers; the reduced size allows us to suppose the manufacture on behalf of a highly decorated dignitary, or a member of the Imperial court; excellent condition.
