Order of the Bavarian Crown

An early Grand Cross star of the Order, 87 MM., with chiseled and pierced rays; centre medallion in gold, with enameled, diagonal colours of Bavaria, centered with golden Royal crown; red enameled outer circlet bearing the Order’s motto « VIRTUS ET HONOS » in golden lettering and stylized laurel branches below, enclosed in finely, radially grooved borders; the whole, enclosed within green enameled oak wreath; the reverse, with double pin; in the original, red morocco octagonal case, with cream coloured velvet lined, fitted inner compartment.
A beautiful star of unusual, rich manufacture, thus extremely rare and excellent condition. I RR!
