Sovereign Order of Malta

A Knight’s Cross of the Order in Gold with white enameled arms, flanked by fleurs de lys, enclosed in an elaborate frame of artistically bent and twisted gold wire, ending with a small sphaerical appendant below; on top, the typical lilied crown with suspension loop as a stylized rosette; ribbon ring with riveted ends, enriched by a beautifully formed, embossed bow with chiseled details; with black, silk ribbon.
A rare decoration of probable Italian manufacture, in the typical, reduced size, from the 1st quarter of the 19th Century, excellent condition.
