An outstanding miniature bar: blue enameled scroll in the form of a closed, golden “Garter” with buckle, bearing the Order’s motto “HONNI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE” in golden, gothic lettering, to which are appended the miniatures of the St. George in gold, enriched by excellent, poly-chrome, miniature enamelwork, giving the piece with excellent detail; the badge of the Hanoverian Guelphic Order with Swords in Gold, with excellently-made, enameled centre medallion and the miniature of the Imperial Russian Order of St. Anne, also in Gold, with red enameled arms and excellently painted, obverse and reverse centre medallions; suspension bar with horizontal, golden pin to the reverse.
A beautiful, important bar, surely belonged to a prominent member of the British nobility, also having served in the armed forces, during the Napoleonic wars; excellent condition. I RR!
