In Gold, made of ten, green enameled links depicting the scene of St. Hubert and the deer and nine, red enameled monograms “CT” and a sliding closure, all linked together by small, gold rings; to the mid-length, the Order’s badge is appended, as a white enameled cross with ball finials, flanked by bundles of three beams each, the arms enriched with gold flames; green enameled obverse centre medallion with the St. Hubert’s scene in gold and red enameled outer circlet with the Order’s motto “in TRAW FAST”; red enameled reverse centre medallion with a gold-embossed orb; the outer circlet as a waving scroll, bearing the black miniature painted inscription “in MEMORIAM RECUPENTAE DINGNI. AVITAE” and, below, “1708”; upper loop as chiseled acanthus leaves to which the Royal Bavarian crown is hinged; round, grooved suspension ring.
A beautifully-made miniature from the 2nd half of the 19th Century, with an illustrious provenance, excellent condition.
provenance: the estate of Dr. Carl Theodor, Duke of Bavaria (18061918), who reached the rank of General der Kavallerie and was admitted in the dynastic Order of St. Hubert on December 24th, 1858. I RR!
