A Miniature Collar of the Order, in Gold, composed of three links representing the Imperial eagle; three links as a trophy of arms with the golden monogram of Tsar Peter I and five links with the St. Andrew cross (one with the closure catch), all finely enameled; miniature badge of the order in chiseled gold and enamels; the image of the crucified Saint in the finest, miniature painting; the reverse also enameled and painted; hinged suspension crown with red enameled details and link-ring to suspend the decoration to the chain.
An exceptional and very rare piece, in the finest quality.
Provenance: the grand ducal family of Baden; this miniature was worn by Grand Duke Louis (1818-1830) and by his heir, Leopold I (1830-1852); Auction Hermann Historica “Russische Orden aus Hochadeligem Besitz”, Munich, October 20th, 2000, lot 12. I RR!
