The rays, made of embossed sheet Silver, bordered with twisted silver wire, alternated by ones made of silver sequines; the tips, with tiny silver-thread loops to mount the star to the habit; orange, gros-grain silk centre medallion, embroidered with the black, Imperial Russian double eagle, its breast with gold bullion St. Andrew’s cross and similarly embroidered crowns and claws; sky-blue gros-grain silk outer circlet, with gold-bullion thread embroidered Order’s motto in Cyrillic script and a gold and green silk embroidered laurel wreath; the centre’s border with an elaborate pattern of twisted/flattened silver wire; the reverse, backed with strong paper, bearing handwritten notes in sepia-ink and red pencil, about the property and position of the piece in the Royal inventory.
