The Medal of Fidelity to the King and to the Fatherland, 1825 “Medalha de Fidelidade ao Rei e à Pátria”

Also known with the nickname of “Medal of the Dust” or “Medal of the War of the Dust”. Breast Badge, 27 mm., Gold, the obverse with head of the King facing right within laurel and oak wreath tied below, the reverse with the motto “FIDELIDADE AO REI E À PATRIA 1825” within thick laurel wreath, moulded suspension loop, round link ring and horizontal bar with slit.
An extremely rare medal, especially when complete with its suspension, excellent condition. I RR!
note: the medal was created as a reward to the officers of the Portuguese Armed Forces who remained loyal to the King and his heir to the throne, the Infante Dom Miguel, during the revolts of 1823.
