Grand Cross Set with Diamonds. Sash Badge, 102 x 55 mm, gilt Silver, with white enameled arms, red enameled gold center medallion framed within a thick border set with large size diamonds, chiseled upper loop also set with brilliants, crown suspension in highly polished gilt Silver, its obverse face, profusely set with old cut diamonds of different sizes, red enameled inner cap, diamonds set suspension ring, with original, silk sash with Austrian type bow and rosette. Breast Star, 90 mm, Silver, the rays richly set with brilliants, the center in gilt silver with white enameled circlet and red enameled medallion, the whole within a border set with diamonds, pierced reverse with concave counter medallion and pin, in the original dark red velvet covered, case of issue with enameled, gilt Silver Royal crown applied to the lid, ruby red, fitted inner compartment and ivory silk cushion. A very rare and luxurious set of this order, most probably of Austrian manufacture, perfect condition. Provenance: Prince Victor Napoleon (Paris, 1862 – Bruxelles, 1926), was son of Prince Napoleon Joseph Charles Paul Bonaparte (1822–1891) and Princess Maria Clotilde of Savoy (1843–1911), had an important role in the monarchist attempt to let France’s 3rd Republic fall, after the crisis determined at the death of President Félix Faure, the so-called “Affaire Dreyfus” and the difficult social/economical situation after the Franco-Prussian war.
