1st Class Set of the First Type. Sash Badge, 97 x 71 mm., 8-pointed silver star, with chiseled and pierced rays, red enameled, gold centre medallion with inscription “El- Müstenid bi-Tewfîkâti’r-Rebbâniyye Meliki’d-Devleti’l-Osmânyye Abdülazîz Hân” (Abdülaziz Khan, Sovereign of the Ottoman State, who relies on Divine Guidance) in Arabic calligraphy, with separately-made, chiseled, golden crescent below, gold-bordered, red enameled outer circlet, on top, hinged, red enameled crescent and star in gold with vertical, grooved suspension ring and original, full-length sash. Breast Star, 97 mm., with chiseled and pierced silver rays and centre medallion in gold and red enamel, similar to the badge, but larger, the reverse, fitted with vertical pin.
An exceptionally rare, complete and homogeneous, early set of the Order, dating to its institution, in December 1861, excellent condition. I RR!
