Grand Cross Set (1885), 1st Model, for Military in Time of Peace (swords under the crown). The order, instituted formally on 10th of May, 1877, was extended to the division “military in time of peace” in 1885, taking the form with swords under the crown, and for “military in war”, with swords to the centre of the cross. Sash Badge in gilt Silver, maker’s mark “Resch”, both sides dark blue enameled, obverse medallion with the eagle, reverse medallion with Carol I cipher. Original short sash in very good condition. Breast Star with swords, Silver, maker’s mark “Josef Resch&Fils, Bucarest”, partially gilt and enameled, brilliant cut. Interesting set, very rare! Together with extremely rare awarding document dated 11th of October 1911,
to Baron of Gemmingen, Feldmarshal-Lieutenant, Austro-Hungarian Commander of the Cavalry Division at Stanislau; as Commander of the Order to Colonel L. Démar, Commander of the 41st Infantry Regiment of Cernauti, original signature of King Carol I and Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Titu Maiorescu. Dim.: the badge, 122,0x75,0 mm; the star, 92,0 mm.
