Grand Officer’s Set of the 1st type in GOLD and enamels (minor chips), 69x45 mm, centre medallion with King Otto’s head facing right; and the colours of Bavaria on the reverse’s centre; suspension crown linked to the cross with the typical loop and thin hinge of the Bavarian-made pieces; plain, polished ribbon ring; original neck ribbon. Breast Star, 75 mm, with chiseled and pierced rays; centre medallion in gold, with applied the enameled order’s cross, within blue enameled outer circlet bearing golden, Greek inscription; the reverse, with French marks and the maker’s escutcheon of Halley, Paris; further, the award papers dated July, 1853, to the Spanish gentleman Don José Pizarro.A very rare and superb set, very fine condition.
