1st Class Set with Swords: Sash Badge in gilt Silver and green enamel; the enameled rays, alternated with gilt-silver diamond-chiselled ones; red enameled centre medallion with Arabic inscription: “Abdülaziz Khan, sovereign of the Ottoman state, who relies on divine Guidance”; gilt-silver, crossed scimitars, passing through the centre; green enameled reverse with centre medallion in silver depicting drums and flags, above, an oval with the date “699” (1299/1300); gilt Crescent and Star suspension and plain ribbon ring; original, full sash ribbon; Breast Star in Silver; red enameled, gilt centre medallion with inscription corresponding to that of the badge, green enameled outer circlet; gilt-silver scimitars passing through the medallion; the reverse with broad pin and two hooks, maker’s escutcheon of the Ottoman mint and “zig-zag” proof mark; in the original, green velvet case of issue with gold embossed tughra on the lid.
An extremely rare set of the highest class of this order, instituted at the end of 1861, awarded by the Sultan for exceptional merits towards the Turkish sovereign; extremely fine condition.
