Order of the Lion of Netherlands

Grand Cross Sash Badge of the Order, 88x58 mm, GOLD with white enameled arms, flanked by golden monograms "W"; dark blue enameled centre medallion, charged with the separately-made, golden lion, within grooved, golden outer circlet; dark blue enameled reverse centre medallion with the Order's motto 'VIRTUS NOBILITAT' in gold , within smooth, polished outer circlet; upper crown, typically hinged to the cross by means of a round bar, with enameled details; large, round suspension ring (an unreadable mark) and a (later) full-length sash ribbon. An attractive piece, dating to the 2nd half of 19th Century, extremely fine condition. I R!
