Breast Badge in GOLD, 45x29 mm, center enameled, makers`s mark, "V.C. (v. Christensens), hallmarked "585" on the outer part and "750" on the inner part with light blue ribbon for ladies. Only 39 awarded in gold, all presented to royalty. Prince Christian (later King Christian IX) of Denmark married Princess Louise of Hesse-Kassel, herself the daughter of a Princess of Denmark and niece of King Christian VIII, at Amalienborg on 26 May 1842. The royal couple were both immensely well-connected and their children made very successful dynastic marriages, becoming respectively King of Denmark, King Greece, Queen Consort of Great Britain, Tsarina of Russia, Duchess of Cumberland and husband of Princess Marie of Orleans-Bourbon.A superb and very elegant badge, of the highest rarity!I RR!
