Sash Badge, 89x68 mm., GOLD, with white enameled arms, centre medallion with the image ground and applied, polychrome enameled, golden bas-relief images of St. Michael and St. George, within blue enameled outer circlets (minor chips to the circlet to the side with St. Michael) with the Order’s motto “AUSPICIUM MELIORIS ÆVI” in gold lettering, upper Royal crown with strong, round suspension ring, with original, shortened sash, fitted with button-holes to be worn on the court dress. Breast Star, 90 mm., with chiselled and pierced silver rays, the centre in gold, with red enameled arms and large, centre medallion with the image of St. Michael defeating the devil, in the finest enamel, miniature painting, within chiselled gold rings, deep- blue enameled outer circlet with separately-made, applied Order’s motto in finely chiselled/engraved gold, the reverse fitted with vertical pin made of red gold, centre disc with engraved maker’s mark “RUNDELL BRIDGE & RUNDELL, JEWELLERS TO HIS MAJESTY and all THE ROYAl FAMILY”.
A very rare set, of the best British craftsmanship dating to the reign of King George IV, in extremely fine condition. I RR!
