GREAT BRITAIN

Outstanding and very rare “Lesser George”: 68x43 mm, oval GOLD frame in the shape of a closed garter, the obverse bearing the Order’s motto “HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE” in polished, raised lettering on finely chiseled ground; polished “buckle” and its finial as stylized acanthus leaves, the centre, bears a carved cameo representing the traditional scene of St. George fighting the dragon, within smooth, thin border, the reverse, with frame identical to the obverse, but the centre bearing the St. George’s scene in exceptionally fine engraving on a polished, gold medallion, showing four tiny rivets retaining the obverse centre, typical, “baroque” suspension, with strong, round ring, with original, full-length blue sash ribbon with bow. An extremely rare badge of the highest, British chivalric Order, made in the finest quality of the mid 19th Century, as used by members of the Royal Family or the highest, British aristocracy, excellent condition. I RR!
