Grand Cross Badge. Sash Badge, 49x43 mm., GOLD, aprox. 39 g, black enameled eagle bearing Spain’s coat-of-arms surmounted by an
Imperial crown, resting on green enameled palm leaves, tied by an orange-red enameled knot and
a crescent below, smooth reverse with round suspension ring.
A beautiful, important and very rare badge of this rarely awarded order, discontinued after the
end of the Spanish civil war and reintroduced in 1950, awarded mostly to native personalities, it
had to be returned at the recipient’s death, thus its rarity, especially in gold, excellent condition.
