Grand Officer's Set, 2nd Model, 2nd Class, instituted in 1849. Neck Badge, 70x37 mm., GOLD, both sides enameled, maker’s mark ”VM for Vincent Mayer”, hallmarked ”3A, chamois head”, both central medallions GOLD, flanked by the black enameled imperial eagle holding a chain in the beaks, with the motto “VIRIBUS UNITIS”, white enameled centre medallion, with the emperor’s cipher “FJ”, reverse medallion bearing the institution’s date “1849” on white enamel and hinged, polished gold border, hinged, Imperial crown with red enameled inner cap and enameled crown’s “jewels”, typical, suspension ring and original, crimson­red neck ribbon. Breast Star with chiseled and pierced rays, 77 mm., the center, in the form of the order’s badge of the knight’s size in gold and enamels, concave, "C" for Commander, polished reverse, with two nuts, broad pin, struck with two “A” marks.
