JambiyaArabic Peninsula, Zanzibar or Yemen, 2nd half of 19th Century

Curved, double edged blade of flattened section, strongly ridged to the middle, from the ricasso down to the tip; horn, T-shaped grip enriched with silver fittings, these embossed and with filigrée ornaments; strongly curved, wooden scabbard covered with red cloth, silver mouth and finial, these also richly decorated in the typical style of such weapons, two suspension rings and four further round rings as a decorative motif, retained by silver twisted wire and gilt bullion ribands.
A beautiful piece, surely belonged to a dignitary; untouched condition, nice patina; very fine condition.
