BULGARIA

1st Class of the 2nd Type, 76 x 57 mm, white enameled, gilt Bronze neck Cross, with crossed swords between the arms, red enameled, gilt-silver centre medallion with golden, crowned lion, green enameled outer circlet with cyrillic, Bulgarian inscription “To the Valour” in gold lettering and “1915”, red enameled, reverse centre medallion with gilt Tsar’s monogram, green enameled outer circlet with cyrillic, Bulgarian inscription “Prince of Bulgaria” and “1879” also in gold lettering, ornated upper loop and hinged royal (princely) crown, round ring and ribbon ring ornated with laurel leaves, with original, long neck ribbon, convex, white enameled. A highly rare and beautiful badge of this high order rewarding the valour in the field, extremely fine condition. Being this set directly coming from a Bulgarian, private estate, we can presume that the order belonged to an officer who received the 2nd Class during the First World War, then the 1st Class while still in service during the 1939-45 conflict. I RR!
