Bene Merenti Order of the Royal House (1937)

Commander Cross, 1st Class, Military, in gilt Silver, hallmarked “39 - 900”, maker’s mark “HW (Heinrich Weiss, Bucarest)”, both sides enameled, obverse with “BENE MERENTI”, on reverse the cipher of King Carol II, two swords crossed, original suspension ring, loop and ribbon. The Bene Merenti Order of the Royal House was initially founded on the 6th of June 1910 as the Princely Hohenzollern House Order of Bene Merenti and took over by King Carol II with royal decree the 16th of December 1935. From 26th of November 1937, swords could be added to any grade.

Cross of the Royal House (1935)

Cross of the Royal House of Hohenzollern Set, 1st to 3rd Class, 3rd Model, for Civil, gilt, silvered and bronze, with original suspension rings and ribbons by “Da Costa, Lisboa”. Very rare set, produced in exile at the specific commission of King Carol II in the 1960`s, instituted with the royal decree 2836 on the 20th of December 1935, the cross had two classes and from 1937 to 1941 swords could be added. In exile King Carol II added a third class to the cross. Dim.: 37,0 mm. I RR!

5th Class, Civil, instituted in 1935. Breast Badge, 57x40 mm., Silver, maker`s mark "BW, Heinrich Weiss, Bucarest", hallmarked "308-38, crown", blue enameled legend "Nihil Sine Deo", surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves (left side) and oak leaves (right side), white-enameled central medallion with black Romanian eagle with the Hohenzollern coat of arms on a shield on the eagle`s chest, on the reverse medium pin. Extremely rare class, in mint condition! I RR!

Breast Badge, gilt Silver, maker’s mark “KK”, hallmark “900”, both sides enameled, blue enameled legend on obverse “Nihil Sine Deo” and on reverse “8 Aprilie 1844”, with original suspension ring and ribbon. An extremely rare cross, very seldom awarded, in perfect condition! Dim.: 55,0x40,0 mm. I RR!

An extremely rare cross, very seldom awarded, in perfect condition!
