Sash Badge, 79×75 mm., gilt Silver, pale blue enameled arms with finely outlined border, the medallion’s outer circlet with dark blue enameled “EX ORIENTE luX” motto and centre in the finest enamel miniature painting; red enameled flames superimposed by gilt fleurs-de-lis; the reverse centre’s outer circlet with dark blue enameled “XVIII–MAJUS MDCCCCIX”, the medallion with bright red translucent enamel on chiselled ground and gilt Royal cipher; upper loop with old Austrian silver mark and maker’s mark “FR” (Rothe, Vienna); typical suspension ring and original, light orange silk sash. Breast Star, 78 mm., with chiselled and pierced rays, red enameled, gold “Seraphim” centre (the face, in the best enamel miniature painting), red enameled, gold flames superimposed by fleurs-de-lis; plain reverse with rivets and screws, old Austrian “A”, “greyhound” and “FR” marks to the centre, the pin also struck with double “A” and “C.F.. ROTHE”, “WIEN” marks. An outstandingly rare, original group of the best Austrian manufacture, extremely fine. RR! I
