A Grand Cross set of the Order: sash badge, 60 x 44 mm., gilt Silver as a red enameled, 8-armed cross, flanked by green enameled laurel wreath; centre medallion bearing the allegory of the Republic on a background of translucent, opalescent white enamel on a beaming chiseled pattern; the upper arm with hinged mural crown and suspension ring; smooth reverse, with convex, countermedallion; with original, silk sash ribbon; breast star, 74 mm., in silver with polished silver rays bordered with thin beads; the centre as the Order’s badge in gilt and enamels; the reverse, fitted with vertical pin. An extremely rare set of magnificent quality, of this short-lived, highest order of Spain’s republic, as awarded before the rise to power of Franco; excellent condition.
