A Grand Cross Sash Badge of the transitional type to the 2nd model: large sash badge, 108x72 mm,
in GOLD with white enameled cross and concave, polished, thin border; accurately chiseled laurel
and oak wreath with bright, emerald-green translucent enamel (a minor chip to a green, laurel
leaf); obverse centre with polished medallion painted with the image of Christ as “Pantokrator” in
the best enamel-work, enclosed in a blue enameled outer circlet with gold inscription; two-part
reverse centre with blue enameled medallion charged by the white cross, surrounded by the blue
enameled outer circlet with gold inscription; small, round upper loop (“man’s head” mark) and
“u”-shaped link, hinged to the inside of the royal crown, this, most accurately chiseled and large
suspension ring; original, silk sash.
A most interesting, imposing and very rare badge made with the use of the 1st type Bavarian
made crosses, officially modified to the new model; almost excellent condition. I- RR!
