A very early, 1st type Knight’s Cross I Class in GOLD, 53x33 mm, with white enameled arms, finely chiselled laurel and oak wreath with green translucent enamel; gold centre medallion with polished ground and the profile head of king Otto in detailed bas-relief; the reverse medallion also in gold with white enameled cross centered by a small square with the Bavarian colours on blue ground within an outer circlet with gold inscription; smooth, round upper loop (struck with a tiny, “man’s head” gold mark)
and suspension crown linked by the typical, inner hook, round ribbon ring and original ribbon with french-style rosette, in original case of issue with gilt crown on the lid. A beautiful and very rare piece of the earliest, finest Bavarian manufacture. Extremely fine condition. I R!
