A 2nd type Grand Commander’s set with swords: the badge, 79x54 mm,
in gilt Silver and white enamel, obverse centre with convex phoenix rising
from the flames, crossed swords between the cross’s arms; reverse
medallion with royal monogram “G” (for king George II, from 1936); crown
suspension, circular ring and tapering ribbon ring; original, neck ribbon
with metal hook and eyelet; breast star, 75 mm, with bright-polished,
smooth convex and concave rays, gilt phoenix rising from the flames,
crossed swords and upper, gilt crown; the reverse with rivets and broad
pin; in the original, black case (a gold-embossed “M” on the front-side) with maker’s mark of Spink & Son, London on the inner cushion. A very rare group in the best quality and condition. I RR!
