Order of the Golden Fleece

An old Miniature of the Fleece’s decoration in patinated gold, 20x15 mm, the suspension set with tiny diamonds; upper loop and a small suspension ring, original ribbon with bow.
A beautiful piece, dating from the 19th Century, very fine condition.
The knights of this prestigious chivalric order, used a variety of miniature decorations for everyday’s use, from the most lavishly executed pieces to the simplest quality, especially in the early 19th Century when the use of the so-called “Mode-Spangen” with applied or suspended miniatures were widely used, although not well tolerated and later prohibited.
