A breast star of the Order, 76 mm, chiseled and pierced silver rays; white enameled centre medallion with golden, green enameled Irish Trefoil resting on red enameled cross of St. Andrew type; gold bordered, pale blue enameled
outer circlet, with the Order’s motto in chiseled, gold lettering; the reverse, counter-medallion, struck with Irish silver and “E.J” marks and the maker’s mark of West & Son, Dublin.
An extremely rare star of the discontinued order of the Irish Crown, excellent condition and quality.
Note: West & Son were historical Dublin jewellers, purveyors of orders to Queen Victoria, also makers of the official collar of Lord Mayor of Dublin. The firm, established in 1720, closed in 2010. I R!
