A group of Commander with Star: neck cross in GOLD with red enameled arms, 69x37 mm, flanked by the black enameled imperial eagle holding a chain in the beaks, with the motto “VIRIBUS UNITIS”; white enameled centre medallion, with the emperor’s cipher “FJ”; reverse medallion bearing the institution’s date “1849” on white enamel and hinged, polished gold border; hinged, imperial crown with red enameled inner cap and enameled crown’s “jewels”; link ring struck with “GR” for Gebrüder Resch, Vienna
and “chamois’s head” gold marks; typical, suspension ring and original, crimson-red neck ribbon; breast star with chiseled and pierced rays, 70 mm, the shorter, of the “dagger-type”; the center, in the form of the order’s badge of the knight’s size in gold and enamels; concave, polished reverse, with two nuts and struck with “GEBR: RESCH” “IN WIEN” and Diana’s head silver marks; broad pin, struck with three “A” marks, in original case of issue, with gilt monogram on the lid.
A very rare set of the 1st type, made by the then official purveyor of this order, from ca, 1868-70. Excellent condition. I RR!
