Imperial Order of the Southern Cross

Grand Cross Star. Breast Star, 87x65 mm., GOLD, with five, gold-bordered arms, flanked by polished, golden beams; sky-blue enameled centre medallion, with a cross of silver, tiny five-pointed stars, dark blue enameled outer circlet with golden inscription “BENEMERENTIUM PRÆMIUM” and three rosettes with stylized leaves, the upper arm with superimposed, Brazilian Imperial crown with engraved and chiseled details, the reverse, fitted with vertical pin.
A beautiful, old, spectacular and very rare star of this Order, excellent condition.
