Saxe Ernestine House Order

A Grand Cross Group; sash badge in gold as a white enameled cross with ball finials, flanked by chiseled and engraved lions passant; centre medallion in gold with embossed King’s bust within blue enameled outer circlet bearing the motto “SINCERE ET CONSTANTER” surrounded by green enameled, thick oak wreath; elaborated reverse centre mdallion at Saxony’s arms with blue enameled outer circlet with the Order’s institution “D.25. DECEMBER 1833” in gold lettering on blue enamel, also within green enameled, thick oak wreath; bulbous, beautifully embossedm chiseled and engraved Royal crown with large suspension ring; original, full length sash ribbon; breast star in silver with polished rays, partially gilt, the centre as a white enameled Maltese cross with gilt centre medallion bearing green enameled Saxon crown, blue enameled outer circlet bearing the Order’s motto similarly to the badge, the whole surrounded by green enameled oak wreath; the reverse with octagonal counter medallion and vertical pin, struck with the maker’s mark “St.&L.” of Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid.
